First Clue - Audio/Text

[ The first sound out of the comm was a suspicious thump thump thump. Someone’s testing to see if it’s on, maybe? After that, someone whistles what sounds like the acknowledging warble a computer might make. After that is a long, tense pause, followed by a grunt. The audio flicks off, but typing starts after a few more moments. ]

Gunney? Dare?

[ Another long pause before the typing continues. ]

This isn’t New Mombasa. This probably isn’t even Earth, is it? Where am I?

[ More importantly, where are his guns?!]

Let me check.

[ Wandering out into the hall to check his room number... and futilely pull at one of the swords fused to the wall. ]

My room number is 6216, if that means anything. And how the hell did they get these swords to stay on the wall?

'Kay. [She waits, then coughs to cover a chuckle when he comes back.]

No weapons are allowed to passengers on the boat. [She hops off her bed and starts that way.] I can find you, I've gotten to know the ship pretty well.

That explains a few things. [ Like where his guns and grenades went. ] I'll wait here.

[ He stays out in the hall, after closing his door. Just to keep an eye on the hallway. ]

Lose some weapons? [Judging from his room number and the...swords on the wall comment, she'd figured out what deck he was on, and a few minutes later, she strolls into view.]

Hey!

One or two.

[ He pauses when he hears her, raising one hand in a wave - she seems like a civilian, so no saluting. He's armored head to toe, only his fingers visible. The Rookie finally offers up a word. ]

Hello.

[She grins and sticks her hand out to shake his -- armored or not, she's still going to be polite to him.

...Even if that whole armor thing is kind of intimidating.]

Nice to meet you in person.

[ He's really pretty friendly, as long as you aren't an alien. He takes her hand, giving it a firm shake.

... But he's still not much for speaking, so uses his free hand to type, showing her the screen when he's done. ]

You too.

[She's totally not! At least, she doesn't think so, anyway. She's used to this typing thing with Chris, so she grins and tugs on his hand.]

This way. I'll show you where the buffet is so you don't wander for it. There's other places on the boat too, like the pool and the caves and the er, flower field, but that's not nearly as important as food, right? Oh, and stay away from Carnival. I mean, if you like being alive, that is.

[ He nods a little, moving to walk beside her. Though the cant of his head reads 'I am confused' when she mentions Carnival. Not that he'll type about that. There's weirder things. ]

Caves?

[She's trying to be in a better mood than previously.]

Yeah, caves. This boat isn't like normal boats. There's caves, flowers, a golf course...loads of other stuff. It's kinda neat.

[ He's glad. But really, he doesn't mind crankiness. He's spent the last five years with with Marines, after all. ]

The golf course I can see, but... this isn't a normal boat, is it.

Not even remotely. [She smiles faintly.] Normality here is something of a blessing, actually. I have yet to encounter that since I've been here, honestly. This place is anything but.

[ He chuckles quietly, letting the sound out of his helmet on his speaker. ]

One of the others here makes it normal enough for me. But maybe a little strangeness will do me some good.

Oh, yeah? Find someone from your home here, then? Sometimes that helps...I've got a couple here from my world...sometimes it helps. [She pauses.] Sometimes it makes it worse.

This way. [She starts heading to the stairs, she's not fond of elevators or enclosed spaces, not anymore.]

He's a 'makes it worse'. Trust me.

[ He doesn't mind stairs, but he somehow prefers lifts. Elevators mean he's not having to watch back and front all the time. But he'll take the stairs anyway. ]

If you ever hear someone with a really deep voice start talking about relics or Forerunners or gods, you avoid them, okay?

Like...Decepticon makes it worse? Or just...'makes it irritating' makes it worse?

[She's a little claustrophibic D:]

Uh...okay. I can do that. Any reason why?

I don't know what Decepticons are.

[ He's stuck in a drop pod most of his time; claustrophobia would be detrimental to his job >_> ]

Because him and all of his kind have been trying to eradicate humanity for as long as I can remember.

Mmm. they're...different. Depends on where you're from. [A liiiiittle evasive on this topic, except that comment sounds rather familiar.]

Sounds kinda like what the 'Cons were doing back home. Trying to blow up our sun counts as trying to kill us all, right?

[ He's startled by her question, but it's difficult to show that in armor. Thankfully. He's supposed to be a professional. Professionals don't flinch. ]

Hell yes that counts. Sounds like they'd get along great with the Covies, as long as they have some kind of religious conviction.

[She keeps taking the stairs one at a time, then pauses long enough to look back.]

Thought so. [She ponders for a moment.] I think the Fallen counts as a religious figure. Best I can tell, he was one of the...originals mechs, thought to be waaay long dead.

[ He takes them two at a time after her, but pauses every once in a while to look up and down the stairs. Force of habit. ]

The Fallen? Not familiar either, but with a name like that, he sounds bad. [ He shakes his head a little. ] Covies follow this race we call Forerunners. They left a bunch of ruins on a lot of worlds and then just disappeared.

[She can hardly blame him. She's developed a similar habit after Egypt.]

He was...really bad. Really, really bad. The one who wanted us all dead, besides Megatron. [She ponders.[ Homm...sounds familiar. The 'Cons left an...energon harvester on our world from forever ago, then showed back up, wanting to activate us and obliterate us all.

[ Checking everywhere's been a big part of his life lately. Even straight vertical isn't safe. ]

Megatron sounds worse. Energon? [ He flexes one hand before continuing. ] I'm not sure why the Forerunners left all their crap. But the Covenant take whatever they find and reverse engineer it to use against us.

Mhm. Energon's what makes them tick and run properly, guess it's kinda their version of blood, maybe? [She starts down a hall once she's on the right deck.]

Well, that sounds eerily familiar too. A lot of our technology back home was reverse engineered from Megatron while he was frozen in the governments 'basement', the Hoover Dam.

[ He gives the stairwell one last, wary, check, before starting after Mikaela down the hall. ] Energon, energy. Makes sense, sort of.

That's a new one on me. Bet that Megatron guy didn't appreciate it - sounds like he un-froze. [ He pauses for a moment, chuckling humorlessly. ] Didn't get any plasma weapons from it, I hope?
